Top beaches to try include Grace Bay, Taylor bay, Sapodilla Bay, Long Bay and Leeward Beach.
2. Go Snorkeling
The colorful reef fish and exquisite coral formations on Providenciales offer some of the world’s best snorkeling. Brightly colored fish, historic shipwrecks with pirate legends, graceful sea turtles and more await you. Many local beaches offer gear rental on the shore, or you can borrow a set of gear for the week and bring them with you throughout the island.
3. Try a Boat Tour
No matter your interests, there is a boat tour to suit your needs in Provo. Learn to sail, cruise to an off-island spot for water sports, dive, discover pirate history, or simply enjoy a nice meal and drink on the water. Discover wildlife on a bird or whale watching cruise. With over 30 different boat tour packages available on the island, there is plenty to see and do while boating in Providenciales.
4. Scuba Dive
Providenciales boasts some of the best diving on the planet. It is one of the few places that you can safely dive along passages where many different whale species migrate. Thea area offers fabulous wreck diving, reef diving, current diving and wall diving with clear water, year-round access and sites accessible both from shore or by boat.
5. Water Ski
On the calm, leeward side of the island, the water is smooth enough to discover the fun that water skiing offers. Head out with a professional company and learn the basics, or take some time to enjoy one of the fastest water sports out there. Don’t like skis? Try wake boarding, parasailing or tubing behind a boat instead.
6. Jet Ski
Personal watercrafts can be a fast and fun way to explore the waters around Providenciales. Take a tour of the area or just play in the waves. Rent a Jet Ski for the day, scoot over to one of the closer islands and take the opportunity to explore some of the uninhabited beaches, or just try it for an hour and see if you like it.
7. Visit a Conch Farm
Have you ever wondered what a conch really looks like? Discover one of the island’s many conch farms and watch how they grow these beautiful sea snails. Learn how they are bred and grown to keep wild conch safe from harvest, and enjoy the demonstrations, including an interaction with a “trained” conch that will come out on command. Stay and try conch fritters, a Caribbean delicacy that shouldn’t be missed.
8. Scooter or Moped Tours
If you enjoy the freeing experience of being on a scooter or moped, it can be an excellent way to discover the islands. Take a guided tour of Providenciales and its highlights, learn about its history and find natural wonders that you missed in the tour books. This is one of the best ways to see the island like a native. If the itinerary isn’t to your taste, then rent some scooters and a local guide, and tailor the tour toward pirate history, shopping, bird watching or any other passion you may have.
9. Go Hiking
Providenciales offers some amazing parks and excellent hiking trails. Whether you prefer scrambling on rocky cliffs along the windward shores of Provo, a walk on sandy paths near the wildlife preserve or a wild trip through the jungle, there are plenty of hiking opportunities to discover here.
